Developing a scholarly approach and contributing to conversations about teaching and learning

Glessmer, Mirjam S. LU orcid ; Daae, Kjersti ; Førland, Oddfrid LU and Kordts, Robert (2025) In Oceanography 38(4). p.56-62
Abstract
From the introduction: "If you are a teacher in higher education, you are probably focused on student learning and committed to improving your teaching. Here, we introduce you to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), the 'inquiry into teaching and learning for the purposes of improving [it] in context and contributing to what we know about [it], in support of the broader aims of higher education', with the goal of improving student learning. SoTL can help you to develop and find your voice as a teacher and create evidence of your ped- agogical competence through documenting and evaluating what you learn while teaching. SoTL can be hugely rewarding and can even be seen as an act of self-care."
