Testing an experiential learning approach to building performance simulations
(2023) 2nd Joint International Conference of EUCEET (European Civil Engineering Education and Training Association) & AECEF (Association of European Civil Engineering Faculties) 1.- Abstract
- Novices often find learning building performance simulation (BPS) overwhelming, juggling theory, simulation tools, and result interpretation simultaneously. We applied Beausoleil-Morrison's conceptualization of Kolb's experiential learning approach to BPS.
Testing it in a master course, we observed enhanced critical thinking, problem-solving, and skill development. Here we discuss the process leading to the implementation of the experiential learning and we illustrate the practical implementation in our course.
