Secondly, we shed light on inclusion and policy issues in music education and in the last section the focus is on democracy. The empirical data emanates from the implementation of the music education model El Sistema in Malmö, and from the on-going change process within Swedish Art and Music Schools. In our discussion, we underline the importance of research being connected to the field of praxis and engaging in policy as tools for developing democratic praxis. We also see the importance of the NNME network to stimulate and support collaborative research models, that stimulate critical and reflective approaches for the development of music education as a research field with huge social impact.
